E-WMS - entry of serial/batch start- or end date in receipt processes

WMS documentation

Introduction

This document describes the entry of serial/batch start- or end date in E-WMS ASP receipt processes.

Description

In all WMS receipt processes it is possible to optionally register start date and/or end date of the batch or serial number. This can be enabled or disabled in the hand terminal settings for each WMS process:

End date for serial items
When enabled, an end date can be entered or scanned when receiving a serial number item.

End date for batch items
When enabled, an end date can be entered or scanned when receiving a batch item.

Start date for serial items
When enabled, a start (production) date can be entered or scanned when receiving a serial number item.

Start date for batch items
When enabled, a start (production) date can be entered or scanned when receiving a batch item.

When date registration is enabled, and you are receiving a new batch or serial number, the date has to be entered on the hand terminal:

When entered manually, this date has to be entered in a standardized format, for example YYYY-MM-DD, or in the format of your specific regional settings on your IIS server.

When date registration is enabled and a start date or end date is included in a bar code like EAN128 or HIBC, then this date is automatically prefilled and applied.

Manual entry of a date, or applying a date which was included in a bar code, is only done, when:

  • date registration is enabled in the hand terminal settings
  • the batch number or serial number did not exist yet (and not received in an earlier unprocessed transaction)

When receiving a serial- or batch number which already exists, or was received just before, than the previous scanned date is applied and date input is skipped for this receipt.

When working with E-WMS Serial/Batch Generation, input of serial/batch dates is always skipped since the 'end date' policy is regulated through the settings and by the item shelf life factor.
